Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the ChoreBoard iOS app (App Store ID 6802764598), the related ChoreBoard marketing website, and the backend services that store your household data. It does not apply to Apple, Clerk, or other third-party services except as described below.

By creating an account, adding family members, or using ChoreBoard, you acknowledge this policy. Our Terms of Service cover use of the service.

ChoreBoard is a general-audience family app, not a Kids Category app. A parent or guardian creates the household with a phone number. Children may use the app only after that adult adds them and shares a family invite QR code.

We do not ask children to create their own phone-authenticated accounts. A QR scan creates a member session on that device so the child can see and complete their chores. The adult who adds the member is responsible for consenting to that child’s use and for sharing the QR code only with that child or another trusted caregiver.

If you add a child under 13:

• Enter only a first name or nickname and a role. Do not add a child’s phone number, email, home address, or precise location.
• We store that name, role, optional avatar, and the child’s chore activity so the household can use the app.
• Do not upload a photo of a child unless you are their parent or guardian and you consent to sending that photo to our image provider to make an avatar. We do not keep the original photo after the avatar is created.
• We do not sell children’s data, use it for advertising, or track children across other companies’ apps or websites.
• You can remove a member in the app, which ends unused invites and member sessions for that person. You can also delete the household from Profile as described below.

We collect only what we need to run ChoreBoard.

We do not require notifications, calendar access, microphone, camera, or photos to create an account. ChoreBoard does not collect GPS, device location, or IP addresses. Event “place” is optional text you type. Hosting and sign-in providers may process short-lived request metadata only to operate their services. We do not store that metadata as a household record or link diagnostic logs to your account.

• Create and authenticate organizer accounts and member sessions
• Show chores, events, and household progress
• Send optional push notifications and write optional calendar items
• Process optional GPT-Live voice requests so we can manage chores, reminders, schedules, members, roles, and board setup
• Process an optional photo an admin uploads so we can create a family avatar
• Keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems
• Respond to support requests and legal obligations

We do not use household data to train public AI models or to advertise to you or your children.

Household members who are signed in or joined with a QR code can see that household’s chores, events, and members.

We share data with service providers only to operate ChoreBoard:

• Clerk — phone sign-in and organizer identity
• Apple and Expo — App Store distribution, push notifications, and optional on-device calendar access
• Vercel and Neon — hosting and database storage
• OpenAI — optional GPT-Live Talk and voice setup. When you use a voice feature, we send audio plus relevant first names, roles, chores, reminders, and schedules so the assistant can understand and perform the ChoreBoard request
• Google Gemini — optional avatars. When an admin makes an avatar, we send the chosen photo so we can find the person and generate a headshot. We do not keep the original photo as a household record

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose data if required by law, to protect the service or our users, or as part of a merger or sale of Pines Intelligence, in which case this policy will still apply or you will be notified.

ChoreBoard does not use advertising SDKs, does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and does not show third-party ads. We do not request App Tracking Transparency permission because we do not track in that sense.

• Household, chore, event, and member data is kept while the household exists.
• Unused QR invites expire after a short period and can be revoked by the organizer.
• Member sessions last until they expire, the organizer revokes them, or the member is removed.
• Voice audio and live transcript text are processed to complete the request and are not saved as a lasting household conversation record in ChoreBoard. OpenAI may retain API data for the limited periods described in its applicable service and abuse-monitoring policies.
• ChoreBoard stops microphone capture after inactivity, at a maximum session length, when you leave the voice screen, or after an out-of-scope request. Listening resumes only after you choose Resume.
• Original avatar photos are processed to make the headshot and are not kept. The finished avatar stays with the member profile while the household exists.
• After you ask us to delete an account, we delete associated personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal, security, or dispute reasons.

• You can decline microphone, camera, photo library, notification, or calendar permission. The rest of the app still works.
• You can add a person without a photo, and you can change or replace an avatar later.
• You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings.
• You can turn calendar sync off in the app. Copies already written to your device calendar stay there unless you delete them.
• Organizers can add or remove members and revoke QR invites and member sessions.
• You can use manual setup and Type instead of Talk if you do not want voice audio sent to OpenAI.

Organizers can review and edit household members, chores, and events in the app. To correct account information we cannot change in-app, or to request a copy of your data, email support@choreboard.ai.

To delete your ChoreBoard organizer account and household data, open Profile and choose Delete account. That removes the household, member profiles, chores, reminders, and related content. A family member who joined with QR chooses Leave family on Profile to end that device’s access. You can also email support@choreboard.ai from the phone number on the account. We complete deletion of associated personal data within 30 days. Removing a member ends that person’s invites and sessions and removes their profile from the household.

Deleting the ChoreBoard account does not delete your Apple ID, Clerk records that Clerk retains under its own policy, or events already copied to a device calendar.

We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted transport, hashed invite tokens, and authenticated sessions. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please share QR invites only with people who should have access to your household.

ChoreBoard is operated from the United States. If you use the app from another country, your information is processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your home country.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to appeal a decision we make about a request. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To exercise these rights, email support@choreboard.ai. We will not discriminate against you for making a request. If we cannot verify you, we may ask for additional information.

We may update this policy as the product changes. We will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice in the app or by other reasonable means.
